LETTING GO OF YOUR PAST HABITS AS YOU DRIVE YOUR HOME BUSINESS ON...

HOW  EASY IS IT FOR YOU TO LET GO OF HABITS THAT NO LONGER SERVE YOU?

Here is a story from a little exercise book called 'LETTING GO - BRAIN GAMES FOR PERSONAL WELLBEING' by Rosette Poletti and Barbara Dobbs.

"An orange is put in a large pumpkin.  The monkey slides his hand inside and takes the fruit.  He can't retract his hand because it's holding the orange and, because he doesn't want to let go of it, he's stuck there and is captured."
The question the authors, and I, ask is

"WHAT IS YOUR ORANGE?"  "WHAT CAN'T YOU LET GO OF?"
Whatever you can't let go of is keeping you from leaping ahead to success.  It's like carrying your airport luggage with the "Caution - Heavy" sign up on your shoulders all the time.  It stops you being effective.  It stops you embracing new, exciting things fully.

Never fear!  Here are a couple of ways you can finally leave your orange behind:

  • Take a rock.....write the words that describe your orange....There might be words like - shyness, being too critical, maybe resentment, or guilt........Write the words on the rock......take it somewhere safe (look out below) and cast it away (maybe in the ocean or a river).

  • Take a piece of paper .....cut an orange shape and write all of the words that describe feelings you want to let go of........In a place where it is safe, burn it.

Ahhhh!.....Now take a deep breath......In this moment you can begin anew.

  • Take a piece of paper and list your strengths, the things that you love to do. Read this list everyday as you look yourself in the eye in a mirror.   Know that they will appear in your life everyday from now on.
We'd love to hear of other ways you've left the past habits behind so that you could move towards success and a brilliant future.  Leave a comment or connect with us (and 'like') on facebook at

WELLBEING ADVICE FOR HOMEBASED BUSINESS OWNERS

ARE YOU JUST STARTING OUT IN YOUR OWN HOME BASED BUSINESS?  CONGRATULATIONS!!!You've made one of the greatest decisions of your life.

I'm about to share with you two great secrets to look after your wellbeing while you work online at your home based business:

1.  Instead of looking at what you're not so good at and where you don't succeed, and continually beating yourself up about this........Do yourself a favour and look at -

  • Where your strengths lie......for there is a waiting treasure chest full of money making possibilities.  You might have been really good at creative writing when you were in school, and thought no more about it.  GUESS WHAT?  You might be the next hottest blogger on the block and create your home based business around this wonderful strength you have.
  • Every week.........CELEBRATE YOUR WINS!  Whether it is getting to know a new online business tool, or learning about a new way to network........CELEBRATE GETTING ANOTHER STEP FURTHER.
  • THINK GREAT THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF!..It all starts in the mind.....WHAT WE THINK ABOUT, WE BRING ABOUT.   When you fall back into old habits of looking in that old negative way of seeing yourself....Catch yourself......Change that thought - YOUR HEALTH, WEALTH, AND SUCCESS WILL FLOW!

HOW WELL DO YOU HANDLE CHANGE?

'In today's world, if we can't embrace change our wellbeing will suffer'.

A  friend said this to me the other day.  It made me remember a recent situation I was involved in....

I was looking at yet another new technological device and trying to take in all the features and great new things it was capable of. (Anyone else relate to that?) And it came up........that feeling of overwhelm, a little desperation, and feeling 'less than'.

I physically felt my whole body start to cave in, my shoulders became rounded, my thoughts became scattered, and I felt totally unsure of myself.  I felt unhappy in myself and realized that my un happiness was a signal to me that I would benefit from making a change.

This experience made me realize that if we don't embrace change we could get left behind. Our chance of happiness gets more and more remote as the world in which we navigate becomes smaller and smaller.  (Think how it would be now for someone who cannot use a computer at all!, how small their world has become and how limiting their choices are.).

So....here's a couple of questions for you to think about:
  • How comfortable are you with change?
  • What kind of change to you handle best - change you have some notice of or instant change where you have to react quickly?
  • Do you handle other people's change well but struggle to accept change in your own life?
FINALLY:
A couple of tips about how you think about change:
  • Consciously change the way you talk to yourself during change....so, instead of saying to yourself, "This will be hard, brace yourself"........change that to ...."I'm taking action now....I'm living a life that has meaning, inspiration and excitement!" "I might make mistakes and that's all part of the learning curve".
  • Another something to say to yourself - "The only thing that's stopping me...is ME!"
  • Congratulate yourself for every little step you take.!

FAST FORWARD TO MY FUTURE SELF.....

Everyday you're slogging away.......
Here are some tips to give you the edge.....to keep you improving when others are just treading through the mud.

  • Give yourself the space to become more successful.....the space to practise new things that get you ahead.
  • Realize that other people may not like where you're going.....Be steady and solid.....Don't let their opinion of what you are doing sway you or irritate you.  Say to yourself, "I don't need your picture of reality to match mine".
  • Become curious!....Where you would normally not ask any questions....ASK!  Remember the story of Percival (one of the knights in Arthur's round table legends).  Because he did not ask the question - "What ails thee?" .....nothing could be healed or changed.
  • Lastly.... INVEST IN YOURSELF!  This will give you the edge and quicken the results you are after.

THAT'S IT!.....Have a great week putting as many of these tips into practise as you can.....
GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK....I'm asking the question......
"How are you going?....What do you need?.....What would help your wellbeing?
Byeeeee.........

THREE EXERCISES TO MAKE YOUR WELLBEING WORLD ROCK!

ALL OF US WORK IN SOME WAY...THE HOW WHAT AND WHERE are completely our decisions.
Are you tired of just feeling like you're on a journey that has no end and with a destination you have not much control over.  I have felt this way in the past.....and I know what an uninspiring place it can be....there seems to be only enough energy to live and not much else.
I've come to realize that I am the only person on the planet who can change this situation.

TUNING INTO MY NORTH STAR (AKA...MY MAIN LIFE GOAL), has changed my life.  It has given me purpose, energy and drive that I never thought I possessed.  You can have this too.

TIME TO CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS....FOR OUR THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS.

EXERCISE FOR TODAY:
Think of a most fabulous thing you would like to experience/work at/have....and so on.
If you don't believe you have the power to do this, start with something small....have a game.
So maybe something like.... "What I want is.....a great compliment paid to me today".

Now, opportunities, like signposts will present themselves in line with that goal.  And all just by you focusing on WHAT IS IT THAT YOU TRULY WANT.  How cool is that?

Everything that crosses our path, we can now see is a reflection of the choices we make and our belief in our North Star (Life Goal).
Mostly in life, we tend to think of what we don't want ...(I hope no one is angry at work today.....I hope I get a lunchtime today.....Work is such a stress out)

EXERCISE 2:  (Similar to the previous exercise....but focusing more on the story of what you really want in life).
Throughout the day say to yourself...."What I Want Is....".  Carry a pocket pad and write down the answers that come up for you....You may be surprised at what you have written down when you review your answers at the end of the day.  You can run this exercise over a week if you want to.

EXERCISE 3:  Over a day, every time you start thinking "This is what I don't want", re frame that thought by saying to yourself (Or anyone else within earshot)
                                "WHAT I WANT IS....."

If you'd like to continue this conversation, connect with me on face book or join my blog......see ya!
