ENTER THE ENTREPRENEUR......

DO YOU KNOW WHAT AN ENTREPRENEUR IS?
I didn't even know how to spell the word 'ENTREPRENEUR' when I first entertained the thought of becoming one.  I thought it was just some rich person who had inherited their wealth and played with money a lot.

BUT I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT IT's A WHOLE LOT MORE!...
In fact I have discovered that actually, rather than the flamboyant ' playperson ' image in my mind, an entrepreneur is someone who has the capability and power to change the world if they want to.  
                        How can they do that?

Well....firstly, because an Entrepreneur is someone who recognized opportunities, is prepared to take risks, is always alert and awake for new innovations and ideas, and someone who is prepared to take responsibility for what they do with their money.

FOR ME...IT'S LIKE BEING GIVEN A KEY TO A NEW  WORKPLACE, WHERE I CAN EXPERIENCE USING MY IMAGINATION, CONSULTING MY HEART AND USING MY CREATIVITY....AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

YOU GET TO NAVIGATE YOUR UNIVERSE IN THE COMMAND SEAT!

OK.....let me share with you some tips to get you started if you are interested in leaving the herd of 'work for my pay' ERs and taking charge of the journey of your life.

• Be willing to be responsible for all areas of your life.  
• Don't be concerned with what anyone else thinks....for sure there'll be an outcry when you want to do something different from everyone else.
• Be conscious of where you are heading and why....this gives you direction  (Check out my earlier post about finding your North Star).
• Instead of asking "How can I make money?".....ask "How can I help people/the world?"
• What do I just love to do?

I'm excited writing this post, thinking of many of you who may be thinking of other possibilities.....Life is just one exciting journey.

WHO'S GOT YOUR WELLBEING BACK?

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS AROUND YOU?
     Sometimes we are so preoccupied with making it through the day that we don't really see how our envioronment affects us...

     I'm here to tell you to STOP!!! and take a look, because it does.

Our wellbeing, (all that will support us in daring to following our dreams) takes its cue largely from our environment.  
We all need balance.....so if you work in a really messy place, or a place with no windows, or an incredibly chaotic place.......then you need to create what is missing.  For example, if work is really chaotic.....you may need to have a peaceful home environment, or make time for a mindful walk in nature each day.

It's like doing a personal stocktake.....some things you can choose to leave behind....(clutter maybe).....or change how you approach your work space.

FENG SHUI is a great tool that can help you take a good look at your environment and help make positive changes.

Here's a SUPER TIP to help get you started.......

A QUESTION FOR YOU...........Where in the room is your desk?

A gift from me.......If you want to do your best work......make sure your desk isn't parked against the wall with you facing it.  This puts you in a vulnerable position where you cannot see the door.  Metaphorically, this means you cannot see what (or who) is coming at you in life.  

Make sure you have a clear view of the doorway into your office.  

There are many small things you can do just setting up your desk that will unconsciously empower you to be at your best when you are at work.

IT'S ALL ABOUT PASSION!

     CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have a North Star to follow!....(See previous post if you're not sure what I'm talking about).

Having a North Star means you are closer to working with your passion.  What is your passion??  Not sure?
It's worth going through the work to find out because once you know this you are free!  You are leaving the herd and setting sail, forever to follow your life's passion, sailing, guided by your North Star.

Following are some of the benefits of working with your passion and being guided by you North Star:

• You will have an increased feeling of personal control
• Opportunities will come rushing toward you
• It will be a great joy to get out of bed each morning.
• You will gain an awareness of new choices available in your life.
• Following your dreams becomes a real possibility.
• You will have the chance to create your own life experiences.

SOUND GOOD?........Then let's find out what you are passionate about!

Ask yourself these questions:

• If you were asked to teach something, what would you teach?
• What books do you love to read?
• What kind of movies do you find yourself drawn to watch?
• What was your favourite thing to do when you were a child?
• What event, topic to talk about, work to do puts a smile on your face?

and finally.....

• What is a talent you can identify that comes to you easily and puts a smile on your face?
• What wonderful dream would you dream if you were sure it would come true?

Look at all these answers and find the common threads that lead you to see what you love to do, what you do easily, and what puts a spark in your day........This is your PASSION.

Now.....spend some time just looking around you for places where your passion may fit in....Allow yourself to dream and have a bit of FUN!

IN THE 21ST CENTURY...STRESS LESS... REMEMBER TO BREATHE!

     You've decided to run your own show, and start your own business.  Congratulations!  What's the next step?

                                                                      

Lots of people will tell you to plan, network, organize.......and on and on and on..

    

      But wait!!  These actions are all important.  However, unless there is some greater purpose behind the whole deal.....what is the point?  The business might flourish, and sail ahead , but unless you have a course to aim for, your whole venture will gradually veer off course or become boring, or you may feel less then successful inside.  This may take the form of highs and lows rather than steady; or unconscious sabotage (misreading the market etc...); or stress, known today as the silent killer.  
     THE MOST SUCCESSFUL JOURNEY , AND ONE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SUSTAIN AND GROW IS ONE THAT IS BUILT ON A CLEAR AND FIRM HOLISTIC  FOUNDATION.

I'm about to share with you  one of the best tools for laying a holistic foundation in business....(You might want to grab some paper and a pen to write down your immediate thoughts).

TOOL#             FINDING YOUR NORTH STAR

Under all the administrative and organizational tasks of getting your business on track and 'out there'....have you looked into your heart to find what is driving you?
Having a North Star helps you focus....most importantly it allows you to TAKE BACK YOUR POWER.  

ASK YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS:

• What do I truly want in my life?.....
• What do I choose to guide me through each day and night?  
• What gives me purpose and helps me feel fulfilled even on a tough day?

Examples of North Stars are something  like - 

• Being free to be me
• Help others to shine
• To discover my richness
• To help those in need.........and so on.

They are different from business goals or objectives.  This is a HOLISTIC appraisal of your inner need.

Here is an exercise for you to complete this week......FIND YOUR NORTH STAR!  Write it down...put it on your computer/ a vision board/ pin it.....LOOK AT IT OFTEN!

GAINING ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE....

O.K.... You're putting in some long hours.  
You're working hard.  Your discipline is starting to take some form other than a tired jellyfish....and your mindset is slowly, slowly taking on that of an Entrepreneur rather than an employee who just does what he/she is told to keep that job.

But things just do not seem to be moving!  No new opportunities are dropping in your lap.  Will you ever, ever,ever be able to give up your day job....

It's now more than ever, rather than focusing on what is not happening, to keep looking at what is working.  No matter how small, it's so important to celebrate your wins....no matter what they are.  Celebrate them every day...
.Dress up for the occasion if you need to.

The other really helpful thing you can do at this time is to look at things from a different perspective.
Turn things on their head....Put yourself in the client's shoes.  It's amazing how this simple strategy can change everything!.....
Ask yourself....

• What do they want?
• How can I best help them get it?
• How will they be best served and most happy?

WHERE ARE YOUR FRIENDS WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

     As a SOCIAL ENTRENPRENEUR you need to be able to make your own decisions.  You need to learn to think for yourself...

SELF TALK AND AFFIRMATIONS are a great help here.
DO YOU USE AFFIRMATIONS?
If you haven't tried them yet ....give them a go.  Choose or make up about five that you can say to yourself a few times a day....preferably out loud.  (Saying them to yourself as you look yourself in the mirror is a powerful thing to do).

 


                                            Here's a few to start you off:

• I love what I do and I do what I love.
• I can do anything I set my mind to.
• I make great decisions.
• I am a magnet for opportunities.
• I am a successful and confident entrepreneur.

Another option is to write them out on cards and keep them in your purse or wallet.  Pull them out and say them out loud several times a day....
